1. Create a YouTube account To create a YouTube channel, you need to have a Google account. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll receive a verification email. Click the link in the email to verify your account.

2. Select a username After signing up, you’re taken to your profile page. Your username is what people who comment or subscribe to your videos will use to identify you. Choose something unique and meaningful. If you want to use your real name, keep in mind that YouTube prohibits content creators from using their real names.

3. Set your location You don’t have to select a specific location, but if you do, make sure it’s accurate. People outside your area may not find your video suggestions.

4. Add tag Tags are keywords related to your channel. When someone adds a tag, they’re suggesting that others search for similar content. Use them to help people discover your content.

5. Share your cover image Your cover image appears at the top of your channel while viewers watch your videos. Upload an image that represents your brand. Make sure it’s high-res (at least 1080p) and only upload images that fit in the dimensions provided.

6. Subscribe to your channel When you first start out, you won’t have many subscribers. To get more views, you need to encourage people to subscribe to your channel. Subscribe to your own channel for free.

7. Comment on other channel Commenting lets people know you appreciate their work. And sometimes, those comments lead to collaborations down the line.
